Holy Spirit Spin Wheel for Pentecost!

We made a new craft for Pentecost

…and we’ve updated it for 2017!

I like the design of this Spin Wheel because it reminds me of the Stained Glass of the Holy Spirit at St Peter’s in Rome!

June! 7 Quick Pics

This blogging thing can be hard work…particularly when a lot of life is going on!  Life is hectic but exciting right now and although I’ve been trying to keep up by taking pictures, I don’t want to just keep listing all the events.  I’m not sure that I can come up with a witty or charming narration right now, but here are a couple snapshots into our life!

Ascension Craft Fail

If you follow Equipping Catholic Families, you will have noticed that I’m a little overwhelmed right now with end of school year events and celebrations.

That’s right…up here in Canada, school ends June 26th, so our kids are still trudging off to school, completing a bunch of projects the teachers have lumped together at the end…and preparing for Emily’s big exodus from high school. From 50th birthday party to First Communion, stacking cups competition and awards nights, Music Concert, Arts Night and Dance Recital, keeping tabs on independent study projects (see Joe’s Handmade Wooden Weapons), university acceptance…THEN prom this Friday, Joe’s track meet, a 90th birthday party, IHM National Conference prep and travel… and THEN on to exams and graduation.

Stacking, Confession, Ice Cream, Communion, Weapons, Awards and Road Trip

 — 1 —

It’s taken until my 4th kid to actually attend a multi-school tournament in a high school gym! Bridget was very excited to compete in the Stacking Cups Competition on Saturday. She proudly wore her school t-shirt for the event, but we unfortunately had to leave before she could get her participant ribbon or medal, because we were off to the First Holy Communion Rehearsal. It was a great experience for her and she was happy to be a part of the St Brendan team.

First Communion in Pictures

Bridget in our Family’s First Communion Dress. I’m so happy to get this picture and she looks so happy!

Each family had a pew at the First Communion, with the First Communicant sitting at the end at the center aisle. Our pastor deliberately assigned one pew per family…and let the crowd into the Church only 10 minutes before Mass started, to cut down on the chaos!

7 Obscure Ways to Celebrate First Holy Communion

Let the First Communicant wear a First Communion dress crocheted by the Pope’s cousin.

It’s true. Bridget will be wearing our family First Communion dress. It’s not satiny or even very long like the other girls’ First Communion dresses, but it was lovingly made by our adopted-Grandma Elizabeth, married to the first cousin of St John Paul II.

Prayer-Loom Prayer Book for treasured First Communion gift from the whole family!

I enjoy making meaningful, homemade gifts…especially when I think they will help immerse kids deeper in the Catholic Faith.  As Catholics, we have a rich Tradition to pass along with many classic Catholic prayers…and awesome Saints to inspire and guide us.

May Saint Mail: Blessed Imelda

Earlier this week, on May 13, the Church celebrated Feasts of Our Lady of Fatima and Blessed Imelda Lambertini.

When I wrote about our busy month of April in our Saint Mail post for St Isidore, I could have suggested that May is just as busy…and June’s looking quite hectic as well!

April Saint Mail: St Isidore

I apologize for how late this post is! We received our April Saint Mail and were eager to jump in, but April was a pretty busy month!

Did you know that St Isidore had a sister and two brothers who were all declared saints! Wow! Four saints in one family! Three bishops and a nun!
