An Alphabet of Mary: Book Review

I have been a fan of Catholic Artworks for a while…after having met Brenda and George (and family!) at a few Catholic conferences.  I have been blown away by the extensive, growing collection of awesome artwork that they have created! I have made crafts like the Stations of the Cross Carousel and Stepping Stones through Jesus’ Life, completely enhanced by these nicely drawn, colorful and likeable artwork of Jesus, Mary and the Saints, available as Catholic digital clipart for projects, activities and teaching aids.  I know that they have a full range of posters and banners and so many wonderful Catholic materials to delve into Church teaching including vessels, vestments, traditions and the Papacy!

Backyard fun

I like that Adam thought of stacking these cars … and then he just went ahead and did it.

I like how Adam clearly put on his own shoes.

I like how the floating pollen/blossoms just make his waterplay more interesting.

Tiny Saints!

I have already written my reviews of some of the awesome Catholic products I found at the National Catholic Education Association conference a few weeks ago, including the Catholic Children’s Bible and Brother Francis’ My Heavenly Friends prayer card collection, but I only briefly mentioned Tiny Saints as a cool Sacrament gift.

The Pinterest Prayer Book

Isn’t Pinterest fun? My only challenge about pinterest…is how to really use it to create things to help my family!  It’s so easy to pin pretty pictures, but sometimes they just gather on my pinboards and I don’t actually try the craft or recipe.  I have been delighted to discover awesome artists who I would not have found without pinterest, but I don’t always remember to visit my ‘artwork’ pinboard to admire all of the work.  Together with prayers I have managed to find and pin, I have created a new Prayer Book Pinboard, but this time…I have an action plan!  This collection will be used to build something!

Whiteboard Animation: Don’t YOU want to give it a try?

This was Kelly’s Animation project last year in grade 8.  I just noticed that the post wasn’t transferred when I moved to WordPress…so here it is again! If you’d like to encourage an aspiring artist…please like Kelly’s Facebook Page: Kelly Comics!  Click on the picture for the direct =&0=& youtube link! The music is pretty catchy…sorry, it might just stick with you for days. =) Do It Yourself Animation  All you need is a whiteboard, dry erase markers and an eraser or shammy …oh yeah, and an AWESOME artist like my 13 year old KELLY!! Is it just me, or is this awesome?!? This was so fun to do…I think I have a couple other kids who want to give it a try! We set up a tripod and camera pointed at our new Walmart whiteboard (about $13). Kelly just started drawing and I kept clicking the camera.  We loaded the close-to-500 pictures (@ the smallest resolution on my camera) into Windows Movie Maker and made each frame only 0.2 seconds long.  We added a quirky soundtrack and here it is! Can you share this video?  Wouldn’t it be cool if it went viral?

In 2011, Kelly produced her first animated feature: Adam-ation.  It’s all about what her little baby brother Adam does when we’re not looking!  This is our blogpost about Adam-ation and here’s Adam-ation on YouTube.
