another way to make Stepping Stones through Jesus’ Life

Another year, we made the Stepping Stones through Jesus’ Life. The path was made of velcro pieces, on top of adhesive carpet tile found at the dollar store. The pictures were borrowed from The Jesus Tree at Shower of Roses, hair-sprayed and mod-podged to glass pebbles from the dollar store. Each day throughout Lent, we added the pebble, making the journey to the Crucifix, from the Teach Me to Discover – Lent & Easter CD at Catholic Artworks.

All for JESUS Lent Challenge

=&0=&

I thought a neat way for both of our families and our readers to tackle Lent together would be for a good old fashioned All for Jesus Lent Challenge. Hey Frankie, just so you know, there are PRIZES!

So basically, every week people could choose their best =&1=& or a special chore they carried out, keeping Jesus’ Sacrifice in mind =&2=&.  They would visit either your Mom’s blog or my Mom’s blog and enter their weekly challenge after they completed it.  At the end of Lent, you (Frankie) and I could randomly choose a couple entries and those people would win a free download link to their choice of one of my Mom’s=&5=&=&6=& Now, just so all the nice people know…we’re probably going to be a little biased when we pick the winning entries. =&7=& People can enter by 1.  joining the link-up below =&8=& 2.  they can leave comments below that include the words=&9=& along with a =&10=& of the challenge that they conquered =&11=&(in case they win!).

My mom will probably add the first one in the link-up, but it might be kind of lame, because we’re just getting started (and she also doesn’t want to win in place of anyone else=)

A Letter to Frankie about the All for Jesus Lent Challenge

Hi Frankie,

Nice to hear about your plans for Lent.  I like your =&0=&(wow, do you get to hold a candle?!?) and I think the counting to 40 after Grace before Meals is a simple, but pretty effective idea. I’ve been insisting on leading Grace for my family these days, but I think that they suspect that I don’t really know all the words.  I don’t think I can quite count to 40 (maybe 11, with a couple jumbled numbers?) but I bet one of my older sisters or brother could lead that.

Well, I showed you in my last letter some of the things my family has done for Lent in the past.  I like how your family does so many different things and you try to make them a habit for the rest of the year.  I suspect that our family will try to do one or two things…maybe even a different focus for each week in Lent.

Hey Frankie! Meet Boppa!

another letter from  Adam to Frankie in the Catholic Toddler Letters

Hi Frankie,

Well, I’m not sure if you remember in my last letter how I asked

“Hey Frankie, what’s the deal with the other people (without little kids) insisting on sitting at the end of the pew so that it’s really hard for parents to leave the pew with a screaming kid?”

Crown of Thorns

This is our Crown of Thorns for this Lent. The toothpicks will slowly be removed and eventually replaced with flowers, as we sacrifice, do good deeds, say extra prayers …or choose not to complain. See other versions of the Crown of Thorns here. As I prayed about what I should ‘do’ this year for Lent, this is what I felt I was being told. “Choose not what you know you can be successful at, but what will draw you closer to Me.” read more...for Equipping Catholic Families!

Stepping Stones through Jesus’ Life

Inspired by the Shower of Roses Jesus Tree post, I came up with my own paper version.  Although I used some of the images from the kit that Shower of Roses posted, I added my own images for many of the days and formatted them into little stamps.  I also added some stamps for Ash Wednesday, St. Patrick’s Day, the Solemnity of St. Joseph and Jesus’ Birth.
