The book is beautifully illustrated and traces Joseph’s ancestry back to David. It describes Joseph in rhyme…in fact, the text is just begging to be sung!
It shows Joseph as a humble carpenter from Galilee, betrothed to Mary. The story continues with the Annunciation; the Angel’s visit to Mary and Mary’s ‘YES” to be the Mother of God. It describes how Joseph discerned what to do and how he received instruction from an angel. He also answered ‘yes’ and took Mary as his wife, brought her to Bethlehem and kept Mary and Jesus safe from the time Jesus was born until the day Joseph died. He took care of Jesus, with Mary by his side. He is the Patron of a Happy Death, because he died with Jesus and Mary beside him.
This 41-page picture book is beautifully formatted with engaging illustrations and rhyming text. It thoroughly and thoughtfully presents Joseph, in all his virtue and encourages us to call on St. Joseph for protection and peace.
