This book is a treasure!
Windley-Daoust provides all the context of first-century Palestine, including what the buildings looked and felt like, what clothes the people wore, and what food they enjoyed, as well as insights into the Jewish culture of the time. He provides prayer to help us receive the specific Scripture and then ‘sets the scene’Â with helpful detail about the context, given the culture and any special references alluded to within the Scripture. The author then extends a few questions to prompt reflection and consider how the story applies to our lives. He encourages us to reflect and prayer-journal or share with a prayer group.

I am so excited to review this NEW Illustrated Bible for Children by the Magnificat division of Ignatius Press. It’s beautifully illustrated with relatively simple and very sweet illustrations in a comic book format for kids 7 years old and up. The font is a nice size with a combination of CAPS for narration and upper and lower case for dialogue. The people are smiley cartoon (my categorization) in gentle and friendly settings, color and formatting.

I’m so excited to share news of this brand NEW documentary of our own Miraculous, Marian Shrine and Pilgrimage Site in Canada!
The video is so nicely created with a reenactment of The Story of Our Lady of the Cape (starring my favorite Bishop, Bishop Scott McCaig and Fr. Ben St. Croix) and featuring inspiring interviews from two of my favorite Companions of the Cross, Fr. Roger Vandenakker and Fr. Mark Goring, as well as Fr. Donald Calloway of the Marians of the Immaculate Conception.
We are so blessed to have Our Lady of the Cape; our own National Shrine in Quebec, Canada!

Through the Year with Jesus by Katherine Bogner is a beautifully illustrated hardcover book reflecting on the Gospel Readings throughout the entire year! The book begins with an explanation of the format of the book and how it presents the Life of Jesus in the order of the Liturgical Calendar. It also includes a note for Parents and Teachers, a guide to Lectio Divina (and Visio Divina -using Sacred Art) for Children, and a guide for praying the Rosary.
