Equipping Catholic Families… for Christmas!

Welcome to our monthly summary of crafts and family traditions related to the Monthly Devotion, Key Feast Days and the appropriate Season of the Liturgical Calendar.

O Antiphons (December 17-23)

The O Antiphons each highlight a title of the Messiah:

O Sapientia (O Wisdom)

O Adonai (O Lord)

O Radix  Jesse (O Root of Jesse)

O Clavis David (O Key of David)

O Oriens (O Rising Sun)

O Rex Gentium (O King of the  Nations)

O Emmanuel.

The first letter of each one (beginning with the last) combines to create the Latin words “ero cras“, meaning

“Tomorrow, I will come.”

…yet another way to express that Jesus is coming soon! We received our O Antiphons ornaments from Jesse Tree Treasures

Christmas Mass

Does it feel like Christmas has come upon us surprisingly fast? Well, yes it has! Advent this year is the shortest it will ever be, comprised of only THREE weeks instead of four weeks plus a couple days (when Christmas falls on a different day of the week). Having Christmas Eve and the 4th Sunday of Advent fall on the same day makes for a complicated Mass schedule, but this is what we have come up with for Mass options this coming weekend.
