Our Lady of Fatima: 100th Anniversary!

Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us!
May 13th marks the 100th Anniversary of the first of Our Lady’s Appearances to three shepherd children in Fatima.

You can read about the Story of Fatima here including Our Lady’s messages and promises.

Last fall, my husband and I visited Fatima on October 12th, the eve of the 99th Anniversary of the Miracle of the Sun.

You can read about the Miracle here

and our trip to Fatima at Equipping Catholic Families.

It was a rainy day, but we had a great one-day pilgrimage packed with confession, outdoor Mass, Eucharistic Procession, Rosary and prayerful wandering through the holy site.

The skies cleared to present us with a beautiful sunset. We left to catch our bus just as people were congregating for the Vigil celebration.

I feel like it’s all part of my own little quest to draw closer to Jesus through Mary, learning from our humble mentor through the Homeschool of Mary.  You see, my resolution for 2017 was to sneak into our Mother Mary’s arms, look into her face, tuck my arm around her neck and ask her to teach me, form me in my own motherhood, guide me in my day to day and nudge me closer to Jesus.

Yes, I’m still working on it.

It looks like I’ve been on the quest for a while…in fact I wrote about this on my secret blog back in 2013: To Jesus through Mary.

What does your relationship with Mother Mary look like? Is she helping you love Jesus more and draw closer to Him? Have you asked her to lend you her “yes”? Do you learn humility and obedience to God’s Will through Our Lady?

Happy Feast of Our Lady of Fatima! Happy 100th!

Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us!

  1. “my resolution for 2017 was to sneak into our Mother Mary’s arms, look into her face, tuck my arm around her neck and ask her to teach me, form me in my own motherhood, guide me in my day to day and nudge me closer to Jesus.” THIS is the best thing I’ve read in a long long time Monica….Love this so so much.
Cannot believe you were actually there! I remember all the pix and posts you shared….one year already! What an amazing journey my friend.

We were at Lourdes in July of 1996. Just a “typical” night there….but it was magnificent. People in stretchers, wheelchairs, crying, laughing…just life changing.

I loved the video and pics…thank you for sharing!
