Drastic times. A family of squirrels is attempting a house-takeover…in the midst of graduations, birthdays and exactly 13 house/appliance malfunctions.
I’m distracting myself by putting together a Summer Saint Project Craft Kit Sale (aka Squirrel Relocation Fundraiser)…targeted at our FIVE new Cathletics Craft Kits featuring 15 year old Kelly’s awesome Kelly Saints Illustrations.
This craft was showcased in A Treasure Chest of Traditions for Catholic Families, but I compiled this video to show how it’s assembled! It’s only about a minute!
With all this talk about the Trinity, I still think a braid is a great way to show the concept of the three Persons in one God.
The Trinity Sunday crafts in A Treasure Chest of Traditions for Catholic Families include a Braid pin and a Braid bracelet, but with the summer upon us, I’ve been looking for a cool leather anklet. Trinity Sunday gave me the boost I needed to go ahead and make my own!
Ascension
So, officially, Ascension Thursday was May 29, but up here in Canada we celebrated it on Sunday June 1st, so I’m including it in my list of June Feasts! My special craft for the Feast of the Ascension really didn’t work too well, but I will probably try bubble painting again when I figure out the right mix. I think the Egg Carton Jesus cheers up the craft…you can still see my Ascension Craft Fail and if you know what I did wrong, please tell me in the comments!
In honor of St Anthony’s Feast Day on Friday, I was thinking about re-presenting the St Anthony Box craft from A Treasure Chest of Traditions for Catholic Families.
The idea behind this craft is to honor St Anthony as the patron of lost items. Many people say a quick prayer to St Anthony, asking for his help to find something that is lost. When the object is found, a Hail Mary is said for the souls in Purgatory and a donation is often made in St Anthony’s name, to the poor.
I don’t have a kindle, but I do purchase kindle versions of books because I enjoy reading them on my ipad. I like being able to crack open my ipad wherever I am and start reading from my library of book…waiting for an appointment or to pick up the kids somewhere. I like the design of this Spin Wheel because it reminds me of the Stained Glass of the Holy Spirit at St Peter’s in Rome!
This blogging thing can be hard work…particularly when a lot of life is going on! Life is hectic but exciting right now and although I’ve been trying to keep up by taking pictures, I don’t want to just keep listing all the events. I’m not sure that I can come up with a witty or charming narration right now, but here are a couple snapshots into our life!
If you follow Equipping Catholic Families, you will have noticed that I’m a little overwhelmed right now with end of school year events and celebrations.
That’s right…up here in Canada, school ends June 26th, so our kids are still trudging off to school, completing a bunch of projects the teachers have lumped together at the end…and preparing for Emily’s big exodus from high school. From 50th birthday party to First Communion, stacking cups competition and awards nights, Music Concert, Arts Night and Dance Recital, keeping tabs on independent study projects (see Joe’s Handmade Wooden Weapons), university acceptance…THEN prom this Friday, Joe’s track meet, a 90th birthday party, IHM National Conference prep and travel… and THEN on to exams and graduation.
