In the Treasure Chest, we included an idea for a God Box: a special decorated and at times elastic-locked box to hold our special prayer petitions, in an attempt to hand them over to the Lord. The God Box can be made for a whole family or a whole classroom or for each child. Prayers are shared as desired, but we can all pray for the unspoken intentions in The God Box.
We choose life!
I have 5 children here in Canada…and 3 up in heaven: Raphael, Gabriel and Paul.
I feel the tug of the newborn who draws up little legs when picked up…and is calmed with a cuddle.I see the goodness in my kids, I’m in awe of how they grow and learn.
I remember…the firsts: the smiles, the words, the steps and suddenly my baby is a little toddler, turning off my computer, climbing into the dishwasher, hiding shoes and pressing buttons on anything within reach.
Easy Prayer Boards
As Catholics, we have no shortage of classic, beautiful prayers and devotions and I think it’s important to build our repertoire of prayers as family or in a classroom. That’s why we created the All Season Prayer Bank.
Broken Statues and St Padre Pio
We are big fans of St Padre Pio. It started when my daughter Kelly picked up the little monk statue at a bookstore. She started reading books about him and he became one of our favorite family patron Saints. We even made a St Padre Pio Wooden Painted Saint.
Triumph of the Cross: September 14
Tomorrow is the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross!
When Jesus’ Body was removed, the Cross was hidden so that followers would not find it. About 300 years later the True Cross was found!
Sounds like the ultimate Treasure Hunt…check out our idea for a Treasure Hunt at the end of this post!

The Pilgrim’s Guide to Rome
Well, as I announced a few weeks ago…I have a real live sponsor sending me to ROME! aaack!! Who knew that blogging could be THIS much fun!?
Now although I agree that Divine Mercy Sunday is the PERFECT day for the canonization of our beloved Bl. Pope John Paul 2, JP2 being responsible for establishing this huge and awesome devotion in our Catholic Church, the Canonization Pilgrimage of April 25-May 2, 2014 presents a more-difficult-than-usual time for me to get away. While we are still discerning whether or not we should cancel a few things and I should attend…I think the more likely ETA for me in Rome is October 2014!
Easy-Sew Saints
Are you afraid of SEWING?
I know it can be intimidating, especially if you insist on doing everything perfectly. Although my grade 8 Home Ec teacher would probably have a little bit of a fit if she looked at the underside of most of my sewing projects, I’m quite satisfied with what I have accomplished by sewing!
