You may have seen the Jesse Tree Treasures ornaments I wrote about during Advent…we even hosted a giveaway here at Equipping Catholic Families, and now I get to show off two sets of Lenten ornaments:
Stations of the Cross Ornaments with the Resurrection cross, all beautifully painted prints on sanded wood
and…
and Holy Week Egg Ornaments, complete with beautiful prints of original paintings for each day of Holy Week, mounted on egg-shaped ornaments. The set is completed with a double-sided cross representing both the Crucifixion and the Resurrection.
Both sets of ornaments are beautiful and will be treasured by families reflecting on the Stations of the Cross and the events of Holy Week.
The Stations of the Cross are appropriate throughout the entire season of Lent, while the Holy Week Egg ornaments may make their appearance specifically during the last week of Lent, beginning on Palm Sunday through to the Triduum of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter.
Ideas to Display these awesome ornaments:
1. Fallen Tree branch from outside, in a dry vase on the dinner table
2. Forced flower on a cut branch…from a pussywillow, forsythia, flowering dogwood, apple or lilac tree. Here is some helpful info for forcing flowers. It says that it can take up to 8 weeks for the flowers to develop…perfect timing for the Easter season!
3. Transform the Jesse Tree into a Jesus Tree! We made our own Family Handprint Felt Jesse Tree banner last Advent and we deliberately left it pretty plain, with the tan-colored tree handprint branches on purple felt, appropriate for both Advent and Lent! There are plenty of buttons to attach both the Stations of the Cross ornaments and the Holy Week Egg ornaments…plus any more ornaments we come up with this Lent!
4. An Egg in an Egg: I opened up my stash of plastic Easter Eggs and realized that I have collected 4 different sized eggs over the years (3″, 2.5″, 2.25″ and 1.75″)
A Jesse Tree Egg Ornament almost fits within the (purple) 2.5″ egg, although the egg can’t quite close around the ornament. The Jesse Tree Egg Ornament easily fits within the (blue) 3″ plastic egg, with room to spare for any little Scriptural scrolls or other props to help tell the story.
I thought that this could be helpful for families already compiling Resurrection Eggs or a Scriptural Treasure Hunt using these plastic eggs.
5. Scrabble Tile Trays: The rectangular Stations of the Cross are shaped like over-sized dominoes. They can stand upright, but can easily be knocked off their thin edge. I thought of the little Scrabble Tile Trays to display the Stations of the Cross ornaments…and noticed that we have 2 shapes of trays across the classic and new Scrabble games we have in the house! The ornaments actually fit the newer, smaller, straight-edge trays better than the classic rounded-edge trays, although with the slightest tap to the table, the ornaments will fall. I guess hanging these ornaments are the best way to go!
I’m just always looking for new and inventive ways to introduce program for Lent …and the other seasons of the Liturgical Calendar. I’m sure these 2.25″x 1.5″ rectangular ornaments (or the egg-shaped Holy Week ornaments) would easily fit in other Advent-turned-Lenten Calendars…including those that have decent-sized pockets. Maybe I need to make one of those next…
How would YOU use these awesome Lenten ornaments?
Tell me in the comments…and I’ll contact you if I’m able to host a giveaway in the next week or two!
These Jesse Tree Treasure ornament sets were generously given to me in exchange for my honest review!

I’ve had my eye on these for so long, but they are so pricey (worth every penny, but not in our current budget).
I love the idea of re-using the Jesse tree, or some simple branches to hang them. For my family, these would be great prayer aids. In particular, my son would love to hang them, as we prayed the stations, or read the passion or other holy week prayers. Having something visual and tangible really helps to engage him and get the most out of the season.
Oh my gosh, I love these! So loveley! My father, who is a woodcarver, made me a handmade foot tall, table cross a few years ago. I would hang these on the cross and put it on our kitchen table (the hub of our daily activities) for all to see.
I would use them with our special needs children in our formation sessions. Several of our autistic children respond well to pictures and putting them in order. These would be great for working with them during Lent.
I would use them at my Religion Class at church and at home. Children love visuals…and these are BEAUTIFUL!!
I would use them during our homeschool day.
I would use them in our home during Lent to visually teach my children more about Jesus and His love for us. They are lovely!
Those are both beautiful. The Station blocks would be great to do a Stations of the Cross in the home. Having the kids move to each Station throughout the downstairs.
The Holy Week eggs are just beautiful, love them.
I teach at a Catholic Preschool and would LOVE to have these in my classroom. I try to give the children as many hands-on activities as possible to present the Lenten journey/Easter season in many different ways. I have only recently found your site and visit often! Thanks for all the work you do!
