and consistent with our newly focused mission to prompt people to pray more consistently and from the heart (with the help of the Saints), here’s an introduction to a very special craft kit, close to my heart, that I created last year during Lent, too late to share for LAST Lent.
Fast, Give Pray…
the WAY of the Cross

This Catholic Craft Kit includes 14 full-page illustrated Way of the Cross Stations with Fasting, Almsgiving and Prayer Challenges, to cycle through the hours of Ash Wednesday or Good Friday, OR to cycle through each day of Lent. Pope John Paul II presented the Way of the Cross Devotion in 1991, combining the classic Stations of the Cross with the Sorrowful Mysteries. The 14 Scripture-based events begin with the Agony in the Garden and finish with Jesus’s Body placed in the Tomb.
Each of the 14 Stations of the Way of the Cross offers the number and title of the Station, a quick summary, the Biblical passage, along with a suggested prayer and several recommendations for Fasting and Almsgiving Challenges. The pages can be printed and assembled into a booklet or laminated (each page separately) and displayed one at a time, checking off the chosen challenges with a dry-erase marker.
An extra page contains three special Prayer Cards with custom artwork: St. Padre Pio’s Stay with Me Prayer, St. Gertrude’s Prayer for the Souls in Purgatory and the classic Anima Christi. An additional page lists the important prayers mentioned within the 14 Station Devotion, with links to their source online.
This craft kit will give the family a solid and focused devotion for either the fasting and abstinence days of Ash Wednesday and Good Friday or an ongoing devotion throughout the 40 days of Lent.
