equipping OUR Catholic family

I’m just checking in after a crazy 40 days in our family.

My favorite person, my Mom was has been fighting her battle with Ovarian Cancer for FOUR YEARS this month. Things escalated quickly at the start of May and she was admitted to the hospital for a whole month and has just moved home with palliative care last week.

My Mom is still fighting the good fight, with bravery and kindness and prayer.

After a lifetime of Faith, Prayer and Love for everyone, my Mom is living her Faith and love for Jesus and our Blessed Mother, every moment, these days.

It seems like every breath is a prayer. She’s showing me how every breath is a prompt to pray and she’s showing me how it’s done with Faith and Grace and Love.

More than ever before, I want to be like her.

Prompted to Pray with every breath.

In the midst of this heart-wrenching time, we have been blessed to celebrate with my Mom the wedding of our second daughter Kelly to Tiernan and we are so excited for them and so happy to welcome Tiernan into our family.

Although my Mom could not attend the wedding at our family parish (where she has been the organist for over 46 years!), the Wedding Mass was live-streamed  for my Mom, who watched along with my brother in the family home we grew up in.

The happy couple walked to my parents’ home, visited with Grandma and had a private photoshoot in their beautiful backyard.

Our close family friend Fr. Roger (who celebrated the Wedding Mass for Kelly and Tiernan), then celebrated the Mass on the Solemnity of Pentecost, at my Mom’s bedside, surrounded by her family and grandchildren.

What a blessing!

I saw with my own eyes, the words of Fr. Roger’s prayer over my Mom filling her with the Holy Spirit. Her beautiful smile was even more radiant and I’m pretty sure we all felt the Holy Spirit and the love of Jesus in our hearts.
