Recently, I was given this book* from Franciscan Media and the timing couldn’t have been better. Recently, I have felt called to recommit to saying the daily Rosary and I have discovered 5 Practical Tips for making it a here-to-stay habit.
The Rosary: Your Weapon for Spiritual Warfare by Johnnette S. Benkovic and Thomas K. Sullivan is a beautiful book presenting fascinating accounts of battle victories, apparitions and striking historical events and survival stories attributed to this powerful prayer. A substantial summary of the messages of Our Lady of Fatima and the witness and teaching of St. John Paul the Great, combined with the teachings of St. Louis de Montfort and St. Maximilian Kolbe (plus personal stories of current theologians including Fr. Donald Calloway, MIC and Dr. Scott Hahn) will impress upon you the power of this classic devotion.
The book also presents key Saints as our Battle Partners including St. Joseph, St. Michael and St. George…St. Therese, St. Clare and St Joan of Arc along with more the more recently canonized St. Jose Sanchez del Rio and St. Maximilian…just to name a few.
The later chapters offer powerful meditations and prayers focused on the different Mysteries along with the fruits we can glean from them. Key strategies or tips for praying the Rosary well are included along with a simple guide with all the key prayers (plus a few of the classics). I think presenting the Rosary as a Weapon for Spiritual Warfare will inspire more people to pray it and to recognize the power of prayer!
Meditating on the Mysteries of the Rosary as we pray, St. John Paul II describes “a connection between contemplating the mysteries of the life of Christ and their power being released” and he maintains that “when we pray the Rosary, we are brought into contact with the memories of Mary’s gaze.” p.99
Always a fan of St John Paul II, I’ll happily answer his call:
