Small Success in 7 Quick Takes: Icy Edition

Small_Success_in_7_Quick_Takes_2

I have decided to combine Small Success Thursdays with 7 Quick Takes Friday. I really like BOTH communities of bloggers and enjoy taking part in both link-ups, but want to spare my subscribers from back-to-back, somewhat repetitive posts.

I propose….

Clementine Box Crib and Sock Baby Jesus

SMALL SUCCESS!

OK, I’m way-late for Advent or Christmas, but I finally finished my Sock Baby Jesus in a Clementine Crib craft.

I’m holding out for the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus on February 2.

The Baby Jesus is still a newborn in THIS house.

Pope Francis egg carton 1

SMALL SUCCESS!

Thanks to a couple friends and family, my egg carton supply is replenished and I am making lots of Egg Carton Saints and Egg Carton characters.

Pope Francis is only my SECOND Egg Carton creation, but I just thought we needed a Pope Francis in our house.

skating party

OK…

so even though I was enjoying a much anticipated Mom’s Over-Night-Out over in Buffalo seeing Wicked, I’m enjoying the pictures from the Skating party in our backyard that happened in my absence.

Incidentally, contrary to some alarmists online, Niagara Falls is NOT frozen over. It is pretty icy…and there are some growing icebergs, but no catastrophe here.

Gabriel 2005

I wrote the draft a while back, but just published Miscarriage, Mass and Music on my little blog  I Blog Jesus.

A few years ago, I attended a Memorial Mass for my best friend’s mother, just a few days after I had lost Baby Gabriel at 19 weeks.  Tears streaming down my face, I actually hid in the public washroom after Communion until long after Mass, not ready to face any familiar faces or condolences…

7 years later, I chase 2 more kids in my house …read more at I Blog Jesus

2014 sampler button

After a lot of tweaking and pulling and blog anx, subscribers to Equipping Catholic Families are finally receiving the Cathletics Craft Kit Sampler link in their email subscription. I’m not sure if the emails are showing up on mobile devices and I know I’m not out of the woods yet with CPU and RSS and html (and lots more) but I’m learning as fast as I can and trying to get the help I need when I need it.

  1. It breaks my heart that you hid. Though I do know that pain. I went to the funeral of a stillborn baby a friend of mine had about three months after I lost my child. I just stood there quietly crying at the gravesite… I think it was the grandfather of the baby who held his arm around me the whole time.

    It never stops hurting. Sigh.

Love the picture of Niagra Falls. BE-A-U-TI-FUL!
    Blessings,
    Em

  2. That photo of the skating party is awesome 🙂

  3. I’ve never seen a picture of Niagara Falls like that. Of course, I’ve never been there at all. That looks really cool. But I can see why the crowds don’t flock there in this season. 🙂

  4. Great picture of Niagara Falls! I’d love to see them in the winter.

    • It really is amazing! I couldn’t believe how much ice had formed on the top of the river…and the icebergs too! It’s just so darn cold to hang around outside, but beautiful!
