Catholic I Spy: Holy Coins!

Our kids have been collecting various ‘holy treasures’, especially on our Catholic Bookstore tours.  We have been known to pack up the kids for a driving trip, solely planned around Catholic Bookstores we want to visit.  This may sound odd, but when we discerned that we would self-publish the book A Treasure Chest of Traditions for Catholic Families, we were just very eager to get the word out and meeting Catholic Bookstore owners was a lot more fun than cold calling by phone.

In between Catholic conferences, we would take these driving trips…and more often than not, when our family descended on a Catholic bookstore, they would always agree to look at our Catholic products, if not place their first order.  OK, maybe they just were eager to get us out of their store…We did our best to control our kids and always tried to buy a few things to support the bookstore.  Anyone want to support our store?
One kid was drawn to statues, another was drawn to anything Veggie Tales…another was drawn to the Holy Coins, with the saints on them.
After seeing Crafolic’s Catholic I Spy, I just had to try making my own Catholic I Spy!  A few years ago, my brother would take my eldest to a print shop like Staples and he used this technique to make a photo-collage out of her current little treasures and toys.  I have a couple plans for a few more Catholic I Spy photo-collages…and I’ll include what I have learned about this technique as I reveal them!
Can you find:  Pope John Paul II, Cross in my Pocket poem, Holy Spirit, St Teresa of Avila, St Joseph the Worker, St Michael Archangel, St Brigid, St Gabriel Archangel , Guardian Angel, Rosary, St Francis, St Joseph, St Benedict (3), St Jude, St Andre? How many rosaries do you see?

  1. Hi Monica,

Thanks for linking to my “Catholic I Spy” post! I’m glad you are enjoying my idea as much as my kids and I did!

I’d be happy to host a “Catholic I Spy” Link-up!!

I’m still trying to locate a publisher for my “Catholic I Spy” book!

    Say a Prayer for me!

    God Bless!

  2. oh my gosh! how cool of an idea!!! Catholic book stores are dangerous places for me…I could care less about a mall, but a catholic shop is a problem!
I am your newest follower..pls follow back if you can.

  3. This is wonderful! My mind is now whirling with “ideas for the grandchildren!” 🙂 🙂 🙂

  4. Monica,
What a wonderful idea! I think it’s time for me to gather up some of the sacramentals around our home and create something like this. I can see this also being a great activity for a catechism class!

  5. Thanks so much for linking to the Our Favorite Things Link Party – I had so much fun playing, I love I Spy games. I can’t wait to see the other ones you create and your tips on how to make them.
    Have a Blessed Weekend.
