When Joseph was 6, we had a Superhero Birthday Party.
We made special invitations with a registration form to let the kids think about what superpowers they would like and what would be their superhero name and secret identity.

This is my copy of The Practice of the Presence of God.
I picked it up years ago at a used bookstore.
This “10th printing” edition was 20 years old back then and it remains a classic! (The first edition of the book was originally published in 1958.)

I saw this cute Miniature Memory Game and thought I’d like to ‘convert it to Catholic’!
I found my 3/4″ circle punch and started cutting out the images. I figured I could use duplicate holy cards (not that I really want to cut into them, but you can get such beautiful saint images!), or duplicate Christmas cards for the images.
I happen to have the added advantage of having lots of Cathletics Playing Cards and Reverence and Awe Collector Cards. The Reverence and Awe Collector Cards have colorful illustrations of Vessels and Vestments and Sacramentals which are great for these miniatures. Depending on how they are cropped, they could be a little abstract…but very interesting. I just have to make sure to crop them in the same place, so that the 2 images are identical.

In The Handbook for Catholic Moms, Lisa Hendey presents a survival guide for mothers, addressing the Heart, Mind, Body and Soul of every Mom. She offers priorities for a healthy life, assuming the many roles of Moms, balancing demands and addressing emotional, intellectual, physical and spiritual needs and goals.

Consoling the Heart of Jesus A Do-It-Yourself Retreat by Fr. Michael E. Gaitley, MIC.
I liked the approachable writing style of this book and found myself thinking ‘Hey, I have felt that” and “that’s what I was thinking” as the author articulates how the reader might receive the down-to-earth instructions and possible obstacles to consoling the Heart of Jesus.

On the brink of September…I realize that I never posted my TY Saint Dolls for August. I thought I’d give you a sneak peek of these two Saints, made by my friend Lucia.

Our first DIY Teddy Bear party was so much fun that we had another Teddy Bear party for the same kid when she was 10!
For both parties, I was able to find very reasonably priced bears for each of the kids attending the party. The second time around, the bears were only $1 each at Dollarama!

A few years ago, dollar stores were selling off
TY Teenie Beanie Bopper dolls.
My friend Lucia began collecting these dolls and turning them into her family’s favorite saints!
She told me how she found the little accessories at dollar stores and craft shops. Her 7 kids love playing with the dolls and learning about the saints. Lucia sent me pictures of the TY Saint dolls that she has made.
