Scrapbooking or journaling is a great way to document our kids’ journey through the Sacraments! Compiling documents, pictures and thoughtful notes into a special book is fun to do…and makes a great gift for the child. Keepsakes like this help to build our Catholic family culture, focusing on these monumental milestones in our Catholic Faith.

Feast Day Fun: St Rita
May 22 is the Feast Day of St. Rita. She is the patron saint of impossible causes and hopeless or desperate cases because of the difficulties she experienced in her life.
Although St Rita wished to be a nun, her marriage was arranged to a difficult and violent man. After 20 years, her husband repented before he died. Her two sons died shortly after that and St Rita focused on prayer, fasting, penance and good works. She entered the convent …and experienced the wounds of the crown of thorns.

DIY Magic Box Tutorial
It’s a bit of a tradition in our family to have a Magic Party for each child’s 5th birthday…driven by the fact that my Dad is a hobby Magician!
He has an awesome Magician’s robe, does beautiful magic shows and grows a pretty authentic wizard beard, worthy of the name Sigurd the Wizard.
Feast Day Fun: St Joseph the Worker!
Feast Day Crafts and Activities
Excerpts from A Treasure Chest of Traditions for Catholic Families , various posts at Equipping Catholic Families and our Saint Scripts Craft Kits (Series ONE and TWO). Although we enjoyed the Feast of St. Joseph on March 19, May 1st is the Feast of the SAME St. Joseph, this time focusing on the Worker. St Joseph was humble, pure, gentle and wise, protecting the Holy Family. He walked by Faith, taking Mary as his wife and guiding and protecting the Baby Jesus, heeding the instructions from the Angel of the Lord. He worked humbly and diligently as a carpenter, to provide for his family. It is believed that Joseph died peacefully in the Arms of Jesus and Mary. One of the symbols of Saint Joseph is the lily in honor of his purity, so we present the Handprint Lilies craft! A couple years ago, we turned a couple of on-clearance TY dolls into Saints…like St. Patrick, Mother Mary, Jesus, St John Paul II. Here is my St. Joseph…and the St Joseph made by friend Lucia who inspired me with her idea and even sent me a doll (St John Paul II) along with these cute little tools she found!
