Welcome to Feast Day Fun: St Maria Goretti!

At the age of 12, a young man tried to make Maria sin. When she absolutely refused, he stabbed her and she died a day later, but not before she forgave her murderer. Her murderer was arrested and 27 years later repented and reformed after seeing Maria in a dream. St Maria Goretti is the patron saint of girls and purity.

Feast Day Fun: St Joan of Arc

May 30  is the Feast Day of St. Joan of Arc.

At a very early age, St Joan heard the voices of St Michael, St Catherine and St Margaret who eventually told her to help the king reconquer his kingdom.  At 17, she led an army, but was captured a year later and sold to the English. At 19, she was martyred for her Faith.

Feast Day Fun: St Rita

May 22  is the Feast Day of St. Rita. She is the patron saint of impossible causes and hopeless or desperate cases because of the difficulties she experienced in her life.

Although St Rita wished to be a nun, her marriage was arranged to a difficult and violent man. After 20 years, her husband repented before he died.  Her two sons died shortly after that and St Rita focused on prayer, fasting, penance and good works. She entered the convent …and experienced the wounds of the crown of thorns.
