May 22 is the Feast Day of St. Rita. She is the patron saint of impossible causes and hopeless or desperate cases because of the difficulties she experienced in her life.
Although St Rita wished to be a nun, her marriage was arranged to a difficult and violent man. After 20 years, her husband repented before he died. Her two sons died shortly after that and St Rita focused on prayer, fasting, penance and good works. She entered the convent …and experienced the wounds of the crown of thorns.

St Rita is the patron of hopeless cases.
We are encouraged to pray for her intercession for our biggest, most stressful concerns.
Families often have a number of special intentions to keep praying for, throughout family prayers. Sometimes people ask others to pray for them. Sometimes we are made aware of a tragedy or critical health scare concerning people we don’t even know.
Prayer Boards are helpful for both “desperate cases” for St Rita or St Jude’s attention and the everyday concerns, offering an excellent expression and reminder of the current family prayer petitions.
