7 Quicker Takes Friday

I managed to miss Small Success Thursday and I’m skipping to 7 Quicker Takes, and posting late.

I finally finished my 3 Kings last weekend…but haven’t had the time to launch them on their journey around the house. I think I may need to go old school and begin on Christmas Day, no longer trying to convert the Elf on the Shelf into Elves on the Shelves…or at least resort to differently timing.

3 Kings off to a late (or early?) start

If you have been watching my blog, you may have noticed that I don’t tend to do things the easy way.  If there is something I can makefor our own family set, I do.  I spend a lot of time making Catholic Printables, but sometimes I just need to make stuff, with felt, scissors and glue. I’m not an expert sewer (wow, did I just call myself an artificial, usually underground conduit for carrying off sewage or rainwater ?) but I have decided that the little flaws in my sewing projects are what make them so unique.

Small Success IN 7 Quick Takes

I have decided to combine Small Success Thursdays with 7 Quick Takes Friday. I really like BOTH communities of bloggers and enjoy taking part in both link-ups, but want to spare my subscribers from back-to-back, somewhat repetitive posts.

Keeping Christ in Christmas

I’m co-hosting the Keeping Christ in Christmas Blog Carnival, hosted by Arma Dei: Equipping Catholic Families, Raising (& Teaching) Little Saints, Truly Rich Mom and the Catholic Bloggers Network. We’ll be sharing different ways, tips, stories and real-life experiences that will help us focus on Jesus as the Reason for the Christmas season. Please scroll down to the end of the post to see the list of carnival entries.                 Does anyone else approach Christmas at the beginning of Advent with the thought that this year will be different, and then by the 3rd Sunday of Advent start to panic and anxiously trying to buy extra gifts to supplement, maybe even tackle an ambitious homemade family gift? I’m doing it again.

Thanks to Erika andTina and this opportunity for reflection, I’m refocusing! How can I remind myself and my family of the true focus of Christmas?

Is it quickly adding program to the family event Christmas dinner….reintroducing a dialogue of thankfulness?

Painted Saints: September Edition!

Better late than never!  I know that it’s the THIRD week of September already, but I wanted to post some of the new wooden painted saints that I created recently.  We have Blessed Mother Teresa and Saint Padre Pio (and Mother Mary, see 2nd picture below) for September saints…and well, Jesus is ALWAYS in season, right?      I am working on another post for yet MORE ideas to incorporate these little wooden saints into the regular crafts, activities, traditions and routines that we already enjoy with our kids. See What to do with Painted Saints…part 1 and check out how we use them in Checkers, Snakes & Ladders and Trouble to add a little Catholic culture ro regular family fun!   Watch for new ways that we plan to incorporate our own little growing army of painted saints.  We’re thinking about chore charts and treasure hunts… Advent countdowns and nativities… and another popular tradition that we can’t wait to convert 2 Catholic!  Make sure that you are subscribed by email to Equipping Catholic Familes for future posts!

What have you been up to lately?

I finally have an intro page…complete with photos from our photo shoot yesterday.  Wow…it’s difficult to get 7 people with their eyes open, nice smiles, out of the shadow (Kelly!) and looking in the same direction, all at the same time, especially when one is only 19 months.  This is my new Intro Page!
