Over the next few weeks, I plan to highlight a few ideas to celebrate the First Sacraments, giving them the significance and hoopla that they deserve.  I’m hoping to offer ideas to help integrate the regular reception of the Sacraments into family life… with reverence and enthusiasm!

  • Daily prayer of at least 30 minutes
  • Frequent sacraments: confession, Mass
  • Weekly scheduled adoration
  • Listen to only uplifting, Christian or classical music
  • No TV/videos except religious programming in moderation
  • Identify a person daily to offer your mortification for
  • Go out of your way to contact people who come to mind in prayer
  • Go for intentional walks with your friend or husband
  • No weighing on the scale
  • Don’t consume sweets or alcohol and no snacks between meals
  • Participate in no social media
  • Avoid non-essential purchases
  • Fridays are a day of meatless fasting (2 smaller meals)

    This is our monthly summary of crafts and family traditions related to the Monthly Devotion, Key Feast Days and the appropriate Season of the Liturgical Calendar. As our kids get older, our activities and commitment to Catholic crafts has changed and adjusted (at least for our tween, teen and young adult kids)! While we haven’t exactly been adding a lot of Catholic crafts around here, we do enjoy pulling out the crafts and programs we’ve developed over the years, sometimes sharing them with younger families in our parish!
